Elegant hotel room in a historic townhouse in Leiden

Villa Rameau — boutique stay by the Pieterskerk

Villa Rameau occupies the former sexton's residence beside the Pieterskerk, restored into an elegant townhouse hotel. It is the most atmospheric address in Leiden if you want to sleep inside the old city with the church bells for company.

Why we like it

A handful of individually decorated rooms, high ceilings, antique furniture and a courtyard garden. Breakfast is generous and served late enough for holiday mornings, and the owners know the city inside out.

Location and getting there

  • In the Pieterskwartier, the oldest quarter of Leiden.
  • 12 minutes' walk from Leiden Centraal station.
  • Museum De Lakenhal, Rijksmuseum van Oudheden and the canals are all within five minutes on foot.
  • Bus 854 to Keukenhof leaves from the station side of the city.

Good to know

The building is a listed monument, so expect stairs rather than lifts. Cars are best left in one of the covered city car parks; the centre is largely car-free.
